Institute Description

Our team is made up of clinicians and researchers and was developed to ensure that the frequently neglected mental health needs of children with complex physical health problems and long-term conditions are detected and treated. We are committed to ensuring best-practice in mental and physical well-being and we recently won the Child and Adolescent Team of the Year (2018) award at the Royal College of Psychiatrists Awards.

Some of the most exciting things our team has done over the last year include:

  • a drop-in centre for children and families where parents have the opportunity to discuss concerns they may have about their child’s emotional well-being (called The Lucy Project)
  • a multi-centre randomised controlled trial to detect and treat mental health problems in children with epilepsy (Mental Health in Children with Epilepsy MICE)
  • collaborating in an online behavioural intervention programme for Tics (ORBIT TRIAL).
